One of my favorite retail locations in Silver Lake is the cross streets of Micheltorena and Sunset Junction (East of Micheltorena Elementary) that houses Feverfew Hair Salon, The NOW Massage, Clare V. and the always delicious Lark Cake Shop. I had the pleasure of meeting Feverfew owners’ Lauren and Danny years ago (in fact we both rehearsed in the now defunct Bedrock Studios back in the day) and we’ve kept in touch. They are a true mom-and-pop operation with lovely curated shops in Eagle Rock and Silver Lake. FF salons are low toxic, community driven and donate from their quarterly profits to support local Eastside organizations aligned with empathy, equity and community care. They are currently offering a discount on hair services to MINIMALISM LA friends and clients. Email info@feverfewhairsalon.com to book an appointment and receive 15% off your first haircut services up until April 1st, 2026.

To Stage Or Not To Stage
According to a study from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), 77% of buyers say it’s easier to visualize a staged property as a future home. Staging helps define each room, reduces clutter, and creates a stronger emotional connection with buyers at first glance. One of our go-to stagers, Jessica Young from Craft Home Staging, spoke with me about her thoughts on staging. “When a space feels elevated yet comfortable, it stands out, photographs beautifully, and ultimately turns a house into a home.
I started Craft with the belief that staging should feel human, creative, and intuitive, not formulaic. Our tight-knit team of hand selected designers approaches each project collaboratively and creatively, curating spaces that feel collected rather than staged. Over the last 10 years I have built a comprehensive selection of goods that clients and buyers fall in love with, and that we love to see come to life in all the new spaces. Through that process we’ve refined our aesthetic while gaining a keen understanding of the market, our ability to benefit our clients, and the overall trends in the LA area. I’ve also learned to let our moving partners handle the heavy lifting so we can stay focused on the fun part, the design. The day to day atmosphere is fun, creative, and effective, just take a look at our Instagram! (@crafthomestaging)”
At MINIMALISM LA, I encourage my clients to stage at every turn, but there are exceptions and when clients are living in their homes during the marketing process and are unable to stage, we’ll help recommend vendors that can help with decluttering and clean-up. Most of the costs of these services, including staging can be covered by Compass through the Concierge Program.
Per Compass, “Compass covers the upfront costs of home improvement and preparation services so you don’t pay anything until your home sells at closing. It’s designed to help you sell faster and for a higher price by funding enhancements that improve your home’s market appeal like staging, painting, flooring, deep cleaning, landscaping, and more without out-of-pocket expenses or interest.”
