El Sereno – 2 bedroom, 1 bath – Asking $940,000
In full disclosure, I’ve only driven by this charming 1920s bungalow in El Sereno, but I’m hoping to get in for a tour this week. The restored French casement windows and stone fireplace immediately caught my eye—along with the large yard (over 6,500 sq ft) filled with colorful fruit trees. Most of the original details are still intact: hardwood floors, the classic layout, and built-ins. According to the sellers, updates include a newer roof, HVAC system, and copper plumbing, just to name a few. The location is ideal—Cal State LA is just a few minutes away, as are Ascot Hills Park, Butterfly Gardens, eclectic thrift shops, and a growing food scene, including the new thrash-metal-inspired Mexican spot, Evil Cooks: Corazón Abierto.
