I have a passion for Tujunga and go back and forth between wanting that semi-rural small town feel and enjoying the day to day city life of Silver Lake. I lived in Tujunga for a brief period and it truly is for someone who appreciates being removed from the city. That said, Tujunga always gets mentioned as “being too far away,” but that really depends on the center of your world I guess. It’s about an 18–22 minute drive to Eagle Rock (around 9 miles), roughly 22–25 minutes to Highland Park, and about 25–30 minutes to Atwater Village or Los Feliz. Pasadena is the easiest city connection, around 18–20 minutes away and Montrose or La Crescenta are just 8–10 minutes down the hill for groceries, cafés, and restaurants. Downtown LA and Silver Lake are about 30–35 minutes outside of peak traffic hours.
All that said, when I spotted 6211 Gyral Drive I had that feeling again. The clean air, the calm and the wild surrounding.
In full transparency, I’ve yet to tour Gyral, but it’s on my list for this coming weekend. Join me?
